Yow! Consciousness has conquered the New Mexico Reggae Dancehall Charts for the month of November. After a continuous reign of hardcore dancehall for the entire year (due to the supremacy of the DIWALI and NINE NIGHTS riddims), the more traditional style of reggae has finally come to the forefront again. Shocking Murray, a rock-stone voiced dj hailing from Portland, Jamaica, but currently based out of West-Germany, managed to storm to the top this time around. His "Woman A You Mi Want" on the Bazzoka label out of Cologne is a sincere plea to his lady. Who feels it, knows it. All the power to you bredda! The artist of the month title Shocking Murray has to share with Warrior King though, who placed 3 entries on this chart, including the runner-up spot. Brian and Tony Gold have been hard on the come-back trail in 2002. This time they clock in with a smooth lovers number that is simply "Irresistable".

On the bashment scene, the doctor Beenie Man has returned to doing what he does best: creating pure party anthems. On the title track of Shocking Vibes new GOLDEN BATHTUB riddim he sings: "A bun mi chalice inna mi golden bath tub, (di galis) dem gimme massage and body-rub." Must be nice. Sean Paul's "Give Me A Light" on the BUZZ riddim is still on heavy rotation on a number of hip-hop/r&b radio-stations in New Mexico, while Gentleman's "Leave Us Alone" on the ACID ROCK is not only tearing up Germany but the Southwest as well. Another wicked hardcore riddim is Rattler's percussion-heavy DIESEL. Kiprich's title track has charted, while strong contenders from Elephant, Bounty & Doolas and Beenie & Vegas are bubbling under. Strong follow-up to the successful X5 beat earlier this year-respect to the Rattler crew. Other bashment selections include Anthony Cruz's cover "I've Been Waiting" (for a girl like you) on the highly rated ENGINE riddim, as well as Jr.Kelly's "Flippin & Floppin " on a rough, new beat from the Firehouse Crew entitled LIVE WIRE. The DIWALI is finally on its way out, with last month's # 1 from Buju dropping down to # 18 and the rest of the DIWALI crew leaving us altogether. It sure was nice while it lasted.
Still going strong is Tony Curtis' ganja tune "High Grade" on the Mo Music label, as is a new Fi Wi Music production from Nelly Furtado: ON THE RADIO. Massive B's fine re-creation of the Roots Radics DUB ORGANIZER riddim finally charts in the form of King Kong's "Jah Is My Best Friend". The rest of New Mexico Reggae Dancehall Charts for the month of November consists of Lion Paw's TRIBAL WAR (with entries from Capleton, Luciano, Warrior King and a George Nooks/Louie Culture combination) and Calibud's ROCK ME, featuring material from Terry Linen, Leroy Sibbles and Leroy Sibbles alongside Louie Culture again.
Bubbling under are a number of tracks on the Morgan family's new NO TIME beat on 71 Records, as well as some killer tunes on Kickin's newest version of the REAL ROCK. On the dancehall front, Steelie & Cleevie have released the follow-up to the awesome NINE NIGHTS called the ONE POP with selections from Bounty, Elephant, Lexus and Buccaneer amongst others. Dave Kelly's new riddim WICKED (with tracks from Baby Cham, Frankie Sly and Chico) has hit the streets as well, so there's NUFF new music out there for you.

Blessed:
