Yow! 3 months in a row now for Junior Gong at the top. Air must be gettin' thin up there! After the success of the MY SWING riddim last month (whichstill has a number of tunes bubblin under & is bound to return to this chart), Chris Birch (alongside Ward 21's Suku) is back with a vengeance in August with his red-hot BOUNCE riddim. Leading the way is the prophet Capleton who can still hype it up better than the rest of them with "Tek Weh U AK", which has classic lines & delivery (minimalistic style) like"no
bother get mi short temper, nuff a dem nah have no sense yah, not even
little common sense yah, no bother put it ova di wall an mi sensor, how much
innocent life gone a trench yah." Also mashing up NM dancehalls & airwaves
are tracks on the riddim by Lady G, Voicemail, as well as a naughty Sizzla. Birch continues to be on fire in 2005!

The DROP LEAF & the HARD TIMES are gone, the SEASONS continues to barely bubble under, yet still never quite seems to mek it, so thanks to Frenchie & Bad 2000, who re-voiced the WORLD-A-REGGAE-MUSIC beat (and re-titled it the WORLD JAM), the roots flag continues to fly high in New Mexico. Wicked tunes are served up here by the hardcore crew around Bounty Killer, Anthony B and newcomer Prilly Hamilton. Rocky Gibbs MUST GET A BEATEN continues to do well out this way with the most crucial combination-tunes of 2005 (featuring Peter Tosh alongside Buju and Junior Reid alongside Capleton), as is Mister Perfect's legendary "Handcart Boy".

On the dancehall front, Mista Wilks MARRY WANNA (or Icebreaker) is crusing nicely, with Doctor Evil's hilarious "No STD" on which Lefteye sounds like the yard version of Eminem, the title track from Wayne Marshall, as well as with the Red Square Crew (Briggy Benz, Natty Chris, Greg Hines & Sugar
Slick), who sound like they could follow in the footprints of TOK to become one of Jamaica's hottest dancehall crews in the future. Jah Snowcone's APPLAUSE still causes a stir in the Southwest with Sizzla, Shane-O and Ele representing, and Assassin just bubbling under. Shaggy has an excellent new cross-over track out with Olivia, which is running up & down commercial & hurban radio out here, and Vybez Kartel finally has a next anthem with "Emmergency" on the fresh SIREN riddim. Rounding out the vibes this time is the reggaeton remix of Elephant Man's "Rah Rah", featuring Daddy Yankee and Pitbull.

Bless,
