Sean Paul still rules New Mexico ! As half of the year has passed, it seems like it will be impossible to take "Artist Of The Year" away from Mr. Dutty Cup. Sean has literally hit the big time, playing stadium shows on the "Rock The Mic" tour with 50 Cents and Jay-Z. "Get Busy" climbed to the #1 spot on the Billboard charts recently, knocking off big-timers as R.Kelly and 50 Cents. On top of that Sean Paul was nominated as "Best New Artist Of The Year" by BET. On this chart he is represented by no less than FIVE tunes, clearly demonstrating his dominance.

As far as singers go SANCHEZ is having a sky-topping year. He holds the # 3 an # 4 spots this time, plus he has some other big guns up his sleeve, including "World Peace" and "Superstar". South Rakkas' CLAPPAS riddim continues to make HUGE waves in New Mexico, as it controls 6 entries this time around: Beenie Man & TOK in a MASSIVE combination, Capleton & David House, Elephant Man, Ward 21, Mr.Vegas&Alozade&Hollow Point in a high-grade weed scorcher and last but not least Pickney- a young, new artist who reminds me of Red Rat at his freshest time. Shaggy's SEXY LADY riddim is back in the picture in form of the title-track featuring Sean Paul, Shaggy and Brian & Tony Gold, and a sexy Danny English/Tia combination, while Elephant Man's massive "Pon Di River" clocks in at # 18. Elephant also teams up in an unusual combo with Rita Marley ("Bruk Out") which works extremely well.

On the rootical tip, Sean Paul & Sasha's "I'm Still In Love" is heavily challenging "Get Busy" for the pole-position, while Germaican's DOCTORS DARLING beat is still hangin' tough with the likes of Anthony B, Seeed and Dr.Ring Ding. More tunes on the riddim have just been released on these shores by giants such as Capleton, Luciano and Sizzla, plus a brand-new riddim by the Germaican crew. Silly Walks out of Hamburg, Germany just knocked out a new Turbulence album on their beats, plus a killer various artists set as well. Some of the hardest rootical releases are coming out of Germany lately, as it slowly seems to be replacing the UK as Europe's reggae-capital. Digital B's ONE TO ONE riddim is big out this way, as it is represented by Sizzla and Buju, while Sean Paul's "Shake That Thing" on Black Shadow closes the door this time.
Bubbling under are a number of tunes on Black Shadow's SURPRISE (including a WICKED Buju Banton), as well as on Lenky's MASTERPIECE. The follow-up to the MASTERPIECE, the TIME TRAVEL has just hit the streets, as has a great new beat called EGYPTIAN, which sounds quite interesting, as does one entitled 20 CENTS.

Bless Up Everyone
