Mr. Dutty Cup aka Sean Paul has done it again !!! With the album "Dutty Cup" surpassing platinum status (yep, one million copies sold), the video for "Get Busy" hitting heavy rotation on MTV (airing 20-30 times DAILY on MTV alone) Sean Paul simply is top-a-top! Even on an underground reggae-dancehall chart as this NM one, he occupies no less than 4 spots in the current top 10. Amazing that after the BUZZ, another hardcore DANCEHALL riddim such as the DIWALI has managed to do so well. After Sean Paul, Wayne Wonders "No Letting Go" is also getting a good amount of spins on the NM hip-hop/r'n b stations, while the DIWALI instrumental is being used by tv-network UPN right along with the instrumental to 50 Cent's "In Da Club". Folks, I think the mainstream is finally ready for OUR music. These were no cross-over beats (many of which Shaggy has been so successful with in the past) but HARDCORE JAMAICAN DANCEHALL RIDDIMS and the people love dem in New Mexico. I still can't believe it !!!

After 2 months, Dave Kelly's MI NUH KNOW has lost its control over NM, slipping down to the # 7, # 9 and # 13 spots, while Black Shadow's follow-up to the BUZZ, the SURPRISE continues its rise. Sean Paul's "Shake That Thing" has move up to # 2, while Elephant Man's "Jamaica" came out of nowhere to claim # 11. Other selections on the riddim include a mean Wayne Wonder/Surprise combination, as well as a rockin' Mr.Vegas track, which barely missed this chart. The brandnew CLAPPAS beat is one of the hottest in quite a while on the equally new South Rakkas label. They team up Beenie Man & TOK for a premiere (which is REDHOT), while Capleton & the David House Crew tell the girls to clap. Lenky's MASTERPIECE continues to move the ladies in the dance, as exemplified by TOK, Elephant and Bounty, whereas Ele's tune "Pon Di River Pon Di Bank" is so hype that it has inspired a brandnew dance in JA (as well as some dancehall events kept "Pon Di River"-by the riverside).

On the rootsy tip, Sanchez has two WICKED entries at # 3 and # 18. The former is a partying anthem (a ladies tune), while the latter is a soundbwoy-killer take of "Frenzy". Sean Paul & Sasha combine very well on "I'm Still In Love" for another crowd-favorite, whereas Anthony B and Germany's Seed rise back up a few notches on Germaica's version of the NIGHT NURSE, entitled DOCTORS DARLING. Dr.Ring Ding, performing the title track of the riddim, and Sizzla (with a new anthem called "Thank You Mama"-for the 9 months you carry me) close the show this time.
Bubbling under is the new Don Corlean production KRAZY with tracks from Ele, Wayne Wonder, Buju, Lady Saw & more, as is Big Yard's new beat SEXY LADY with contributions from Sean Paul, Shaggy, Will Smith (!!!), Bounty, Cecile, Tanto Metro & Devonte & others. Also shaping up well is Digital B's latest roots sensation. This time only Sizzla made it, yet Buju, Morgan Heritage and Luciano also have BIG guns on the riddim!

Until next time: Seeyainadidance. Bless
