The DIWALI has been toppled again and I dont care who says what: this is IT for the riddim-no more resurgences: guaranteed. I dont see it re-conquering the top spot EVER again. High Society's COOLIE DANCE has taken over the pole position on the New Mexico Reggae Dancehall Charts with Elephant Man's WICKED "Genie Dance", as well as third place in the form of TOK's "Unknown Language". Sean Paul on the DIWALI has dropped down to the # 2 and # 5 spots respectively, while the Wayne Wonder remix has dropped down to # 10. Ele's dance-anthems, as "Signal Di Plane" and "Blaze" are also fairing well. Predator's "Nah No Head" on Don Corleon's GOOD TO GO beat is still mashing things up, as is a brand-new Sean Paul/Beenie Man/Wayne Marshall combination on the New York New York label.

The demand for roots reggae continues to increase in New Mexico again all of a sudden. What the DIWALI has been for the dancehall posse, Germany's NIGHT NURSE/DOCTOR'S DARLING has been for the roots&culture crew: simply indestructable-just cannot get that thing outta here: by popular demand !!! It occupies the # 6, 11, 13, and the #16 spots; heading straight for NM's roots riddim of the year. German reggae productions continue to tear up our area, making me wonder as to what REALLY is the capital of reggae music these days? Is it Kingston or Berlin? Or maybe even Cologne? Speaking of which, from Cologne comes one of Europe's top sound-systems called Pow Pow, who just started their own record label. Their first riddim 007 (a remake of the Shantytown classic) is RED-HOT & Anthony B as well as Sizzla represent it this time around. As if that wasnt enough, yet another label pops up outta Cologne (Nitty Gritty) and manages to combine German reggae superstar Gentleman with the legendary UB 40 on the RUDIE riddim. They also cut Gregory Isaacs on the beat, so keep yo eyes peeled for that one. Jah Life's re-creation of HOT MILK is also still making some waves out here with tunes from Barrington & Beenie Man, Flourgon and Louie Culture (nice to see that dancehall veteran voice new tunes again).

Jah Bless:
